My heart this week...

So very grateful to be free. So thankful to be Yours--chosen, treasured, beloved. So thankful for the ways He has redeemed my story and made it something beautiful.

"Let my eyes see Your kingdom shine all around
Let my heart overflow with passion for Your name
Let my life be a song, revealing who You are."

I pray I always live up to such a calling.

Broken

It's a Saturday morning, and it's my birthday. And I wake up so excited to jump out of bed, because it's the day that I will hopefully get the best birthday present ever: the news that our next child is on his/her way. I bound out of bed, so much anticipation in every step. My cycle is seven days late, and with every fiber of my being, I expect to see a positive result. I walk out, and I am crushed. Another month, another negative test. Infertility has won again. All I want to do is go back to bed, curl up, and forget. Forget what it's like to want children. Forget how much the negative tests hurt. Forget that infertility is a part of my life. I want to just stop this crazy rollercoaster ride of emotions and pretend like I don't care any more. But I can't. It does  hurt. I hate hoping and getting disappointed, over and over and over again. And then the questions come. "Do you want more children?" "When are you having another one?"

Two Steps Back

Today, we received some disappointing news with our adoption. We heard back from Zoe's House (the new agency we were pursuing) earlier this afternoon, and they told us that they have determined they cannot accept any adoptive families with children at this time. The reason behind that decision is that most expectant mama's want to place with a childless family rather than one who already has children. While we understand the position the agency is in, our hearts are hurting. I wish I could tell expectant mamas our story, how hard of a journey it was to even have Selah, how much of a miracle her life is...that adoption was anything but an afterthought for us. Unfortunately, we do not have that option at this point. This journey towards growing our family has been so long and so hard every step of the way.
